LIME The traditional material for Restoration and Bio-Construction
The process of making Lime is very peculiar. We crush the solid limestone with the heat of fire, make it plastic adding water, and then use it as a cement in construction, where it will return to a solid form, although with a different shape. Using products with only natural hydraulic lime is favourable for restoration and generally improving any kind of masonry (brick, tile, stone, mixed structures, etc.) degraded by time and damp, in old ones as in new buildings. Elicona has selected a range of products prepared exclusively with natural lime and quicklime, without cement and soluble salts that are harmful to constructions. We offer consolidating, draining and insulating plasters, others for damp or salt contaminated walls, mortars, grouts and finishes. Also highly resistant NHL natural hydraulic TrassKalk lime, obtained with a mixture of aerial lime and TRASS (typically northern

EARTH – LOAM - CLAY
Raw clay is an ancient construction material, noble though simple to use, suitable to get an ideal microclimate inside residences. It is highly transpirant and acoustically insulating. Because of its capacity of draining dampness from the air, Clay harmonizes the relative humidity inside buildings. It also absorbs and neutralizes harmful substances, smells and smoke in the air; thus it does a kind of detox and filtering action inside the building.
Thanks to its thermal inertia, clay absorbs the heating system’s warmth and radiates it back into the air, contributing to an always comfortable climate in the house: in winter it accumulates warmth and cools down slowly, in summer it helps to maintain low temperatures because it heats up slowly as well. Elicona offers a choice of coloured raw clay plasters and finishes.
